About Us

We are a small family-run company, based near Lake Zurich in Switzerland.  Our daughter, Ellie, is the centre of our lives. We focus our time and energy on providing a stimulating environment for her.  This not only helps her to learn and to develop important skills, but also it it gives us back such positive energy and joy.

We wanted to do something we're passionate about, and that is sharing with a greater audience the same approach we use to foster a safe, learning environment for young children.  We started Playtime with Ellie in 2020 to bring the same principles and fun approach that we enjoy to other similarly-minded parents looking for toys and learning aids to stimulate and please our young children. 

Our carefully selected Chinese partner is also a small family-run business.  We choose FSC-certified sustainably harvested wood for our products.  All our products are hand-made and coloured with non-toxic, child-friendly, water-based paint that is certified by Swiss certification authority, SGS.

With formal Montessori training and a degree in social work, we make conscious well-informed decisions about methodology, e.g. Waldorf (open-ended), Montessori (goal-based), and other approaches.
